Knight chess

Is weekend, is time to update my blog again. This week, our homework is make a horse chess.

In this homework, I learned the function of Bezier Corner, Refine, Surface editing in 3Dsmaxs, symmetry function, edit patch function.



I face a lot of problem when doing this homework, the most difficult part in doing this chess is the moment when I making the refining part, after refining the object, if I use the surface function but the surface did not created properly, I have to check which part did not connected then deleted it and refine and connect again, I stuck at this part a lot of time.

Luckily, I manage to finish it although it is very low in quality. But I learn a lot of things after doing this homework.

About Z brush and My second homework

My lecturer give us topic about what is Zbrush?Today, I investigated what ZBrush is, and I found that ZBrush is also a 3D modeller software like 3Dsmaxs which I using now. But it is a better software in making the 3D character.

Modelling and mapping 3D character is the most complex work, but ZBrush able to make the work becomes easy and fun like the children playing in the dirt.Designers can control the ZBrush's brush tool easily and freely in carving image which inside their mind into 3D. Its brush can  create wrinkles, hair, acne, and other details easily. It seems like a very powerful software, I might try it someday.

Next, is about my second homework which is modelling a 3D chess. I finally made it.

When making this chess, I having a trouble which is I cannot drag my picture (material)directly into the plane(object) in the 3Dsmaxs; in other word, my 3Dsmaxs cannot assign material to object. And I finally got the solution, which is don't open the 3Dsmaxs with administrator, or else it won't read the picture(material).

To making this chess is very easy, you just need to use line tool to draw the half of the shape of chess by tracing it on a plane. Then use lathe tool to make it.

And that is how my homework is done.

My first robot in 3D

This is my first time to make a blogger about 3D animation. Through the 3D animation class in University Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR), I learn to use 3dsmax, which is the software for creating the 3D model, and I finally done my first 3D model today! Why I making a robot? It is because our first homework is "make a robot".

The most difficult part in making this robot is to arrange those cube. It really take time to do it. Therefore, remember those shortcut key is the most important things in order to faster the progress. Lecturer said that, polygon used in 3D model must minimum because it could in order to smooth the gameplay. CPU no need to buffer so many polygon on time while gameplay. Since my course is game design, so my target is to learn for create model with less polygon.


Using 3dsMax
In 3dsmax, It have many style can be selected to view the 3D model, the style which I like the most is Color pencil style, because the robot is look very dynamic with it.

There are really a lot of technique I must learn in using 3dsmax, there are a lot of tools which I really have no idea to use it. Hope I could master those tool by the following lesson in 3D Animation!
